The New Orleans Parish Council is expected to meet later this month to discuss the Complete Streets Policy. While a policy currently exists, it has never truly been implemented. New Orleans needs an updated policy that will bring safe sidewalks, bike lanes, and crosswalks to neighborhoods throughout the city.
New Orleans has unique challenges, such as chronic flooding and deep-rooted poverty, that require transparent and thoughtful planning as we rebuild our streets. A strong, data-driven and equity-focused Complete Streets policy is what we need to move forward.
Call Mayor Cantrell's office in support of access to more sidewalks and bike lanes for families in every neighborhood of New Orleans. Biking is affordable, it improves our health and helps preserve our local environment. Ask Mayor Cantrell to update the city's Complete Streets policy to make New Orleans healthier and safer for everyone.
